Ascension Island United Kingdom
Scope
Manufacture, supply, and delivery of sixteen (16) accommodation huts and four (4) containerised bathrooms to support construction operations on Ascension Island for Mitie Group, on behalf of the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence. Infrastructure was designed for seamless integration with the client’s existing power generation, water, and sewage systems. The project included a dedicated establishment service and on-site training for Mitie staff.
Delivery Timelines
The project was delivered under a short-turnaround request, with engagement commencing in April 2025. Assets were dispatched by 19 April and delivered to Ascension Island by 30 April 2025. The integrated nature of the Humanihut Field Infrastructure System enabled efficient logistics, transported to the Island by a United Kingdom Ministry of Defence operated vessel. A Humanihut Establishment team met the shipment on arrival and completed full installation within two weeks.
Project, Contract and Supplier Management
A dedicated project management team oversaw all phases of delivery, from contract negotiation through to review and closure. The on-site Humanihut Establishment team coordinated Humanihut’s subcontractor network and workforce while managing client requirements to meet critical deadlines. The team also included dedicated training staff responsible for the delivery of a contractual training package to Mitie personnel.
Logistics Capability
Logistics operations were managed in collaboration with the client, using a combination of military sea freight and commercial road freight. The containerised design of the Humanihut Field Infrastructure System allowed a significant infrastructure footprint to be compacted into four standard 20-ft shipping containers, optimising transport efficiency for the remote delivery.
